　　Yes, we do sweat in space. And because there is no gravity we must use towels to wipe off the sweat.

Russia's Federal Space Agency will go slow on its strategy for manned flights. At any rate, this is the implication made by its chief, Anatoly Perminov, at a news conference held at the MAKS-2007 air show on August 22. "Our main goal is to use the reliable old systems for manned flights," he said in a preamble to the subject of new spacecraft and deep space studies.

As a matter of fact, his words can be taken as a long-awaited policy statement, bringing much needed clarity to the issue of Russia's space transport system development, and informing about future prospects for Russian and international manned flight programs.

Diagnostic tests and months of stable, successful operation have resolved concerns raised early this year about long-term prospects for the powerful telescopic camera on NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter. The High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) camera on the orbiter has now taken more than 3,000 images of Mars, resolving features as small as a desk in targeted areas covering thousands of square miles of the Martian surface.

Already, this is the largest Mars data set ever acquired by a single experiment. The camera is one of six instruments on the orbiter.

After six weeks of hunkering down during raging dust storms that limited solar power, both of NASA's Mars Exploration Rovers, Spirit and Opportunity, have resumed driving. Opportunity advanced 13.38 meters (44 feet) toward the edge of Victoria Crater on Aug. 21. Mission controllers were taking advantage of gradual clearing of dust from the sky while also taking precautions against buildup of dust settling onto the rover.

"Weather and power conditions continue to improve, although very slowly for both rovers," said John Callas of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, Calif, project manager for the rovers.

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. - NASA said Friday that cracks have been found in the insulation of all three space shuttle fuel tanks slated to fly in coming months and could be the reason a chunk of foam debris broke off during Endeavour's launch.

The debris gashed the belly of the shuttle, but ultimately didn't threaten the spacecraft during its recent mission. But NASA wants to prevent that from happening again and officials outlined their repair plan Friday.

 美国天文学家日前通过射电望远镜在宇宙中发现了一个直径接近10亿光年的空洞，其中不仅缺少可见的气体、恒星、星系等正常物质，甚至连散布于宇宙中的神秘“暗物质”也难觅踪迹。

    据美国《科学日报》23日报道，这个缺乏几乎所有物质的大洞距地球约60亿至100亿光年，位于猎户星座以南的波江星座的众多星系之中。美国明尼苏达州大学的天文学教授劳伦斯·鲁尼克说：“从未有人发现如此之大的空洞，而且我们也从未预料到会发现如此之大的空洞。”天文学家此前曾发现过大量宇宙空洞，但其规模通常只相当于这次发现的千分之一。

    夏威夷大学的天文学家托利表示，空洞可能是由于宇宙间密度分布的不平均造成的，密度大的区域具有较大的重力，能从密度较小的区域吸纳物质。在宇宙130亿年的演变中，这场“物质争夺战”的结果就是某些宇宙区域成了空洞。

　　据现代快报报道今天，20名学生代表将在南京三中文昌校区通过业余无线电台对话正在国际空间站的宇航员。三中无线电台的负责人王龙老师昨天告诉记者，原来测算的通话是间是今天18时44-54分之间，约9分55秒，现在根据空间站的轨道计算将推迟几分钟，时间改为18时50-59分，但仍有微调的可能。
